Tkachenko Named Conference Player of the Week

Cowgirl tennis freshman Iryna Tkachenko was named conference women's player of the week, it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

The Kiev, Ukraine native led OSU to a 1-1 record against conference foes Iowa State and Nebraska this weekend. Tkachenko was 2-0 at the top singles position and teamed with junior Zana Masnic to go 2-0 at No. 1 doubles.

Ranked No. 79 in the most recent ITA ranking, Tkachenko picked up the shut-out victory over Iowa State's Jill Palen. She followed that victory with an upset of then No. 34 ranked Gitte Ostermann of Nebraska.

Tkachenko is 13-3 in singles matches this season while competing at the top individual position. She has posted a 4-3 record against ranked individuals.

Tkachenko is the first Cowgirl to earn the conference honor this year.
