Marjorie Johnson Earns Big 12 Weekly Honor
April 05, 2005 | Cowgirl Softball
For the second time this season Marjorie Johnson, a freshman on Oklahoma State's softball team, was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the league office.
Johnson went 2-0 last week, throwing complete game shutouts in both outings. She led the Cowgirls to a 7-0 shutout against in-state rival Tulsa and followed up by tossing a one-hitter against 10th-ranked Baylor to lead the Cowgirls to a 3-0 win in eight innings.
The Tulsa, Okla., native averaged 9.3 strikeouts and extended her streak of not allowing an earned run to 31 innings. The lone run surrendered in that span was to then-No. 3 UCLA and since that time Johnson has thrown 27 shutout innings.
Oklahoma State (27-11, 2-2) travels to Norman for the first installment of Bedlam on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
