Cowgirls Fall in Tightly Contested Match, 4-3

“We had a very difficult match today against one of the top programs in the conference,” said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. “We played incredibly well and unfortunately came up a little short. This match will provide good experience for our young players.”
The Cowgirls (5-11, 2-5) struck first when the tandem of junior Zana Masnic and freshman Iryna Tkachenko surprised the nation's 58th-ranked doubles pair, 8-5.
OSU was unable to overcome the early deficit, claiming wins in only half of the six singles contests.
At No. 1 singles, No. 97 Tkachenko pulled off a shocking come from behind victory over No. 34 Ostermann, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
OSU finished the scoring by recording a pair of three set victories with wins by sophomore Lauren Simmons at No. 3 singles and sophomore Jennifer Poskitt at No. 5 singles.
“We got solid performances from all of our girls today,” Lubicz-Majewski said. “I am pleased with our team's fight. If we play like we did today, we should be able to surprise some people in our matches that are coming up.”
The Cowgirls will return home to finish out the 2005 spring regular season with six straight matches, starting with a 2 p.m. contest against
