Cowgirl Softball Holds Off Cyclones
April 17, 2005 | Cowgirl Softball
Cowgirl starter Jessica Hoppock scattered two hits while leading
The Cowgirls took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Shanel Scott knocked Jennie Killman home with a single to center field. Killman led off the frame with a double then moved to third on a sacrifice from Lacy Darity.
After playing small ball in her last at-bat, Darity had a chance to swing for the fences in the fifth inning and she didn't waste the opportunity. The junior went yard for just the second time this season, clearing pinch-runner Rachel Johnson from the bases with the shot to left field.
Much like Saturday's game,
Hoppock was solid in the circle, tossing a two-hitter, striking out nine and walking five while picking up her 13th win of the season.
