POSSE Priority Point System

UNDERSTANDING THE PRIORITY POINT SYSTEM
In an effort to more equitably serve OSU POSSE members, a system was developed to determine ranking for season ticket placement and obtaining tickets to postseason tournaments, away games, bowl games and other special events, as well as upgrading seat location. Please note: The Priority Point System only counts payments received, not pledges, and points are awarded for gifts to Athletics only. (See pages 10-12 for a list of giving opportunities.)
The Priority Point System takes into account four different areas: Current contributions, Consecutive years of contribution, Continuous ticket purchases and Connection with the University (also referred to as the Four C's). Each area is given a specific point value, and the total number of points determines a donor's ranking. Because sustaining the annual fund and supporting the stadium renovation project have been deemed the top priorities for OSU Athletics, contributions to Varsity Athletics and “The Next Level” campaign are weighted the most in the Priority Point System. Other categories relate to another very important attribute of our supporters – loyalty.
The Priority Point system has been slightly modified to better serve the changing needs of OSU's expanding donor base. The point allocation changes will provide donors a simple and consistent method of calculating points ... so donors wanting to keep track of their Priority Points can easily do so.
Please note the most significant change: Donors contributing directly to either Varsity Athletics or ”The Next Level” Campaign will receive three (3) points per $100 donated. These points will never diminish and will carry over to subsequent years. Under this new scenario, donors will get one (1) point per $100 for donations to other accounts, whether unrestricted or restricted (see page 11). Donors will retain all previously earned Priority Points in their giving history.
1. CURRENT CONTRIBUTION
Donors earn three (3) points for every $100 given to varsity Athletics and/or "The Next Level" football stadium renovation project, and one (1) point per $100 for all other unrestricted and restricted gifts donated during the current POSSE year (July 1-June 30). Only payments received count toward point totals – not pledges.
1A: Unrestricted Gifts: Dollars contributed directly to Athletic Scholarships, Donor Seating, Iba-Fenimore Society , POSSE benefit auction and the Varsity Athletics General Fund.
1B: Restricted Gifts: All other donations, such as gifts to " The Next Level" football stadium renovation project, other athletic facilities, individual sports, etc.
2. CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF CONTRIBUTION
Donors earn one (1) point for each consecutive year of donation, including the current year.
3. CONTINUOUS TICKET PURCHASES
Donors earn one (1) point per year for season tickets in each sport. Note: This category simply counts whether season tickets were purchased for a particular sport, not the number of individual season tickets purchased.
4. CONNECTION WITH UNIVERSITY
For each account, donors may receive a one-time-only benefit of ten (10) points in each of the following three categories:
5A: O-Club
5B: OSU alumnus (or if spouse attended OSU)
5C: OSU faculty/staff

Starting July, 2005, points will be calculated based on the above guidelines. Here is an example:

PRIORITY POINT RANKING
Donors will be ranked by Priority Points at specific times throughout the year for the purpose of seat allocation and post-season tickets in various sports (see chart below). Donations made prior to these dates will help your Priority Point ranking as it applies to seating for that particular sport/event.

Please note that donations made after June 30, while immediately earning Priority Points, will not be applied toward POSSE annual benefits (such as parking, donor level, etc.) until the following year.
(Example) Joe Smith pays his donor seating requirement for 2005 football prior to the May 1 deadline, securing his donor seats for the 2005 football season and establishing his POSSE level and benefits for the 2005-06 sports calendar.
In the fall, Mr. Smith makes a new donation of $1,000 to "The Next Level" facility campaign. The Priority Points earned from this gift will be included in Mr. Smith's ranking when allocations begin for football bowl tickets on November 15.
