Cowboys Impressive at Weekend Meets

At the Texas Relays, Cowboy junior Sean McCabe led the Cowboys to a fourth-place finish in the 4X1500-meter relay. McCabe was joined by sophomore David Pomies and freshmen Matthew Barnes-Smith and Alejandro Ruiz. The team finished with a time of 15:42.58 in the event. The meet was held in the
At the Emporia State University State Farm Relays, Cowboy sophomore Joseph Gray finished fifth in the 1500-meter run to lead three Pokes in the top-10. Sophomore Brian Ehlis finished sixth with a time of 4:02.16 and freshman Brian Gosnell's time of 4:05.25 was good for ninth place.
In the 800-meter run, freshman Brian Wall and junior Justin Nobles finished 10th and 11th respectively. Wall finished with a time of 1:58.42 and Nobles finished in 1:58.53. In that event, sophomore David Foster finished with a time of 2:02.96 to finish 23rd and freshman Aaron Rivera ran the race in 2:08.94.
Senior J.R. Lake finished 11th in the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:32.69 and junior Luke Sigle's time of 10:43.84 was good for 14th place in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
“We had some good performances this weekend,” Cowboy head Coach Dick Weis Said. “I feel really good about the way we ran and I was very impressed with our young guys once again.”
The event was hosted by ESU at the Zola Witten Track/Frank Welch Stadium.
