Softball Falls To Kansas, 3-1
April 10, 2005 | Cowgirl Softball
After a pair of walks, Nettie Fierros laced a two-run triple to right field. The Jayhawks earned their third free pass of the inning and Jackie Vasquez followed with a RBI single to give KU a three-run lead and send Cowgirl started Jessica Hoppock to the dugout.
Randi Cook came on in relief and held
The Cowgirls had their chances but were not able to finish, leaving seven runners stranded and four scoring position.
Shanel Scott was the only Cowgirl to round the bases, coming home on a single from Megan Carey in the sixth but it was too little too late. The inning started with Scott reaching on an error. Shianne Cruce was then hit by a pitch and Courtney Totte connected on her first hit of the game to load the bases.
Carey came through with the timely hit, sending a shot to the outfield that barely found fair territory, landing on the chalk down the right field line. The rally stopped there as the next two batters struck out and the Cowgirls left the inning with the bases loaded and just one run on the scoreboard.
