Cowgirl Softball Downs Wisconsin, 4-1

Oklahoma State's sophomore hurler Jessica Hoppock tossed a two-hitter to lead the Cowgirls to a 4-1 win against Wisconsin on Saturday at the Embassy Suites Tulsa Invitational. The Cowgirls snapped a four-game skid with the win and improved to 12-8 overall. Wisconsin dropped to 5-4 on the season.

Ashlyn Watson got the offense started in the third, leading off with a single and scoring on an error by the Badgers. Stephanie Nicholson followed with the Cowgirls third base hit of the frame to bring Scott home for a 2-0 lead.

Oklahoma State increased its lead in the final two innings, plating one in the sixth and seventh innings.

Tara Jeffery connected on her first triple of the season to score Dominique Van Nortwick in the sixth frame. The Cowgirls then built a four-run advantage with a pair of hits in the seventh. Watson led off the frame with a double and Lacy Darity entered as a pinch runner. Stephanie Nicholson followed with her third hit of the game to bring Darity home.

Hoppock earned the start for the Cowgirls and tossed a no-hitter through 6.1 innings before allowing back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the seventh. Ricci Robben scored on the second hit to avoid the shutout. The sophomore struck out the final two batters to pick up her third win of the season.

Oklahoma State returns to action at 7 p.m. on Saturday, taking on Wichita State.
