Cowgirl Softball Shuts Down Tulsa, 7-0

Oklahoma State opened the Border War with a 7-0 win against Tulsa at Lady' Back Yard on Tuesday, earning a 2-2 split in the season series with the Golden Hurricane.

The Cowgirls went after Tulsa early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first on a RBI single from Tara Jeffery. Stephanie Nicholson doubled and Courtney Totte reached on a fielder's choice to set up the play.

OSU added to its lead in the third inning with a performance that looked much like the first. The Cowgirls connected on three singles to push two more runs across home plate and take a 4-0 lead after two innings. Megan Carey earned two RBI with a hit down the right field line to score Shanel Scott and Jeffery.

The Cowgirls advantage increased to 6-0 after a run in the fourth and fifth innings. Nicholson rounded out the scoring with a RBI double in the sixth to give OSU a 7-0 win.

Marjorie Johnson threw her first complete game since a February 26 outing against against UCLA. Johnson was impressive in the circle, striking out 13 and allowing three hits in the shutout.

Oklahoma State (25-10) continues play at the Border War with a 5 p.m. contest against Arkansas.
