The Oklahoma State men's track team made a strong showing at the Stanford Invitational this weekend, qualifying three runners for the NCAA regional meet.
Friday, junior Sean McCabe started things off for the Cowboys by qualifying for regionals in the 1500-meter run. His final time of 3:47.13 is 47 seconds faster than his personal best time in high school.
"Sean has just been improving very well lately," Cowboy head coach Dick Weis said."Knocking that much time off of his high school best is just amazing."
The Pokes also showed the potential of their young talent as three Cowboy underclassmen qualified for regionals as well. Sophomore Joe Gray finished eighth in the 3000-meter steeple chase with a time of 8:54. Sophomore Brian Ehlis finished 12th in the 5000-meter run Section 4 with a time of 14:24.35 while sophomore David Pomies finished 12th in Section 2 with a time of 14:07.15.
