Cowgirl Softball Slides Past Tulsa, 6-5
March 25, 2005 | Cowgirl Softball
Tulsa scored an unearned run in the top of the first but the Cowgirls exploded for four runs in the bottom half of the frame to take a 4-1 lead before lightning moved into the area.
The first two OSU runs of the game came on a home run from Stephanie Nicholson, the senior's seventh of the year. Courtney Totte stole home and Tara Jeffery scored on a triple from Ashleigh Tweed to finish out the inning.
The Cowgirls added to their lead in the second, plating two runs when Totte laced a double down the right field line.
The Golden Hurricane started their rally in the third, scoring two runs on back-to-back RBI doubles. OSU's lead was cut to one in the fifth when Stephanie Sliepen came home on a sacrifice fly, but the Cowgirls defense held tight for the final two innings and extended their win streak to five.
Jessica Hoppock (10-6) picked up the win in the circle, relieving Randi Cook in the fourth inning. Hoppock allowed one run off one hit, one walk and four strikeouts. Cook scattered seven hits and allowed four runs in her eighth start of the year.
