Cowgirl Softball Falls To Purdue
March 11, 2005 | Cowgirl Softball
In its only game at the Speedline Invitational on Friday,
Purdue scored its first run of the game when a throw to third for an attempted pick-off sailed over Lacy Darity's head. On the next play, Kristen Schell plated Shelli Messer with the Boilermakers third hit of the game to give Purdue a 2-0 lead after one inning of play.
Purdue gained some breathing room in the third on a RBI double from Andrea Hillsey.
The Cowgirls finally got some offense in the fifth when Lacy Darity scored on a wild pitch. After reaching on a single, Darity moved to second on a base hit from Shanel Scott and third on a Stephanie Nicholson groundout.
OSU connected on two hits in the seventh but was not able to move a runner past second.
Jessica Hoppock took the loss in the circle, allowing four runs off six hits, one walk and 12 strikeouts.
