Cowgirl Softball Falls To BYU

For the second consecutive game the Cowgirls struck first with a run in the first inning. After two BYU errors and a walk, Megan Carey earned a free pass with the bases loaded to send Shanel Scott home for the go-ahead run.
The Cougars evened the score in the second but the Cowgirls quickly regained the lead with a run in the third.
BYU then took control of the game in the fourth, scoring five runs off four hits. Lauren Watson-Perry and Ianeta Le'i had the big sticks of the frame, earning two RBI apiece with a double and home run, respectively.
Randi Cook was saddled with her first loss, falling to 3-1 on the season. Cook tossed 2.2 innings in relief, allowing six runs off seven hits, two strikeouts and one walk. Marjorie Johnson earned the start, fanning two and walking two in one inning. Jessica Hoppock closed out the contest, striking out seven, walking two and scattering two hits in the final 3.1 innings.
