Cowgirl Softball Wins Two In Palm Springs

The Cowgirls had a 3-0 lead in the first game before allowing the Utes to climb back in it with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Dominique Van Nortwick put the Cowgirls on the board with a RBI single in the third, scoring Stephanie Nicholson after she reached on a double.
Nicholson, who was 2-for-4 in the game, connected for her second consecutive double in the fifth and scored on Courtney Totte's third long ball of the year.
Marjorie Johnson improved to 5-2 on the year, striking out 10, walking one and allowing two runs off three hits.
Against UNLV it was
After two walks and a wild pitch Shianne Cruce and Nicholson were in scoring position with two outs. Totte came up with the clutch hit, a two RBI single to even the game.
Neither team scored in seventh and the international tie-breaker was enforced, placing Cruce on second to start the eighth inning. Cruce scored the game-winning run thanks to a pair of sacrifice hits by the Cowgirls. Chelsea Caraway moved her to third on a bunt and Nicholson plated the winning run with a fly ball to the centerfield.
Hoppock allowed two runs off six hits, one walk and six strikeouts before Randi Cook entered with one runner on in the fifth. Cook held the Rebels hitless for the remainder of the game, striking out three while improving to 3-0 on the season.
