Cowgirls Travel to Las Vegas for Team Tournament
February 23, 2005 | Cowgirl Tennis
The Lady Rebel Classic will feature an eight team field that includes four nationally ranked teams, No. 15 Tulane, No. 21 Fresno St., No. 33 New Mexico and No. 46 UNLV.
“There will be a lot of quality opponents competing at the tournament this weekend,” said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. “We are going into the matches with high expectations. I believe that we have a good chance of being successful.”
OSU (1-4, 0-2) draws Fresno State at 2 p.m. in the tournament's opening round. The Bulldogs are the events defending champion. The Cowgirls dropped the only other meeting between the two schools.
The Cowgirls will once again juggle the doubles lineup in an attempt to pick up the extra score. OSU is 0-4 in matches in which they did not win the doubles points, coming one team point shy of the victory in three of them.
“We are going to continue to switch our pairings up in doubles to see if we can find the right fit,” Lubicz-Majewski said. “It is vital that we begin to win the doubles points in our matches if we expect to be successful.”
