Softball Shuts Out OBU, 9-0
February 18, 2005 | Cowgirl Softball
Sophomore Randi Cook tossed the first shutout of her career as Oklahoma State's softball team defeated OBU, 9-0, on Thursday at Cowgirl Stadium and improved to 7-4 overall. OBU falls to 0-1 on the season.
OSU's offense finally came alive in the third when the Cowgirls loaded the bases after a walk and a pair of singles. Megan Carey followed with her second double of the season to clear the bases and give the Cowgirls a 3-0 lead. Jennie Killman pushed home another run with a well-placed bunt and Dominique Van Nortwick scored the final run of the frame on a wild pitch.
An OBU error allowed Carey to score and Lauren Kitchens to reach first. Killman knocked in her second run of the game with a single and Kitchens came home on a groundout for the ninth and final run of the day.
The Lady Bison were unable to score in their final at-bat and the game was called due to the mercy rule.
In her second consecutive start in the circle, Randi Cook held the Lady Bison to three hits, striking out a season-high six batters and walking one while improving to 2-0.
