Cowgirls Looking to Tally First Conference Victory

Oklahoma State's women's tennis team will be looking to pick up their first conference match of the season on Saturday when they face No. 13 Texas at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin at 2 p.m.

The Cowgirls (1-3, 0-1) are coming off a 4-3 loss at Colorado. Texas (4-0, 2-0) will face OSU after playing Nebraska on Saturday morning.

“We are going to go into this weekend as big underdogs,” said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. “Our team is going to go out and try their hardest to pick up a win. I think we have a real chance this weekend because we match-up well against Texas.”

Texas leads the all-time series 18-3. The last time the Cowgirls were victorious against the Longhorns was on March 8, 1989.

Freshman Iryna Tkachenko will face her third ranked individual of the year at the top singles position. The Kiev, Ukraine, native has posted a perfect 4-0 record in individual play at the No. 1 singles slot.
