Freshman Marjorie Johnson struck out 16 in
Ashlyn Watson gave the Cowgirls a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, sending Courtney Totte home on a two-out single to left center. Totte reached on a walk and moved to third on a double from Tara Jeffery to get in scoring position.
Totte then gave the Cowgirls some breathing room in the sixth inning, knocking a two-run shot over the left field fence.
In addition to a season-high 16 strikeouts, Johnson allowed just two hits en route to the win. Melissa Coogan took the loss for
