Cowgirl Golfers lose two in Hooters Collegiate Match Play

The Cowgirls were able to pick up two wins against the Boilermakers as freshman Pernilla Lindberg defeated Myrte Eikenaar, 3 and 2 while senior Jennifer Karr won a one-up match over Purdue's Whitney Frykman. Neither Cowgirl trailed in her respective match.
However, OSU lost the Nos. 1, 3 and 5 matches to fall, 3-2. Freshman Amanda Johnson and junior Mallorie Underwood both lost their matches, down six with five holes to go. Freshman Karin Kinnerud was all square with Christel Boeljon before losing the final two holes.
Against Tennessee in the loser's bracket, Underwood never trailed defeated the Volunteers' Jennifer Davis 2-up. Karr fell behind four holes, cut the lead to two on hole No. 17, but tied Holly Cantwell on the 18th hole and fell, 2-up.
Lindberg put OSU up 2-1 with a 4 and 3 victory over Marci Turner. However, the Volunteers retalliated with a 6 and 5 victory by Violeta Retamoza over Amanda Johnson. Kinnerud let UT's Golda Johannson by four holes through 10, but lost four of the final eight holes and tied the other four, halving the match. The match ended in a 2-2-1 tie, and Tennessee won the tiebreaker, winning eight holes to the Cowgirl's six.
