The Life Skills Program at Oklahoma State allows Academic Services for Student Athletes to offer speakers on topics ranging from media relations to drug awareness; professionals from around the country, as well as speakers from the OSU campus, provide valuable insight into being a student-athlete at Oklahoma State University.
The Life Skills Program at Oklahoma State also provides a Life Skills class, facilitated by the Academic Enhancement Center Coordinator, in which student-athletes can earn degree credit while learning what it takes to be a successful student-athlete at the collegiate level. The course acts as an introduction to the University and life as a student-athlete and also fosters good time-management and study skills. After taking the course, which unofficially doubles as a student-athlete orientation, student-athletes are more aware of their own study habits and their effectiveness, as well as more comfortable in getting around the University and knowing how to take care of their administrative business, such as enrollment or a bursar's bill. While the course is not required, it is highly recommended by student-athletes and advisors alike.
