Taking Our Future to the Next Level
January 07, 2005 | General
Combine a winning football team, a top-of-the-line facility and a sold-out sea of orange, and Saturdays in Stillwater will be second to none.
Far more than a mere facelift, the proposed $108 million upgrade to OSU's football stadium include an attractive brick exterior to match the modified Georgian architecture of the OSU campus. When connected to the Athletics Center, the stadium will create a one-of-a-kind, fan-friendly sports complex that is unique in all of collegiate athletics.
In Phase I, the south side of the stadium is complete with totally renovated bigger and better restrooms, more convenient and inviting concession areas and a new upper concourse with all-new facilities for fans. The existing pressbox has been replaced with a modern facility that includes a new Club Level, Luxury Suites and plenty of space for working media.
In Phase II, the north side of the stadium will be totally renovated with bigger and better restrooms, more convenient and inviting concession areas and a new upper concourse with all-new facilities for fans. The top level of the north side of the stadium will be crowned with a modern facility that includes a new Club Level and Luxury Suites.
With attractive architectural elements and landscaping, the bowled-in stadium will offer aesthetic beauty outside and keep crowd noise inside - boosting OSU's home-field advantage. While seating capacity is currently 47,500, this modern stadium will initially seat 53,000, with the capability of future expansion. Ultimately, the size and scope of the stadium project are dependent on fundraising efforts and demand, with construction planned in several phases as revenue becomes available. Beyond gifts, the sale of Club Seats and Luxury Suites will constitute a major aspect of the stadium funding.
A five-year snapshot of all funds, including cash donations, pledges, suite sales and club seat sales, shows that more than $79 million (including the self imposed student activity fee of $10 million) has been raised toward the stadium project. In addition, all 19 luxury suites on the south side of Boone Pickens Stadium have been spoken for, with reservations now being taken for the 31 available north side suites. All of the 1,900 club seats on the south side have been sold, and reservations are now being taken for club seats on the north side of the facility.
Oklahoma State University is committed to taking its football facility to The Next Level. Please join us in making OSU Athletics second to none!
