Stoves Set to Run at Jayhawk Invitational
January 27, 2005 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
Stoves, a sophomore from Heysham, England, suffered an injury to his achilles over the holiday break and will be making his indoor season debut for the Pokes. Stoves competed for the Cowboys in the cross country season as well.
Matthew Barnes-Smith, a freshman for the Cowboys, also suffered an achilles injury in last weekend's Razorback Invitational. The injury required 12 stitches. When he will return to action is still in question.
“We've got some guys banged up.” Cowboy head coach Dick Weis said, “This weekend will be big, but not as big as last weekend, so we have the opportunity to let some guys stay here and rest.”
The first event of the 35-team meet will begin Friday at 11:00 a.m. with the last event scheduled for 8:15 p.m.
