Cowgirl Softball Picked Seventh In Preseason Coaches Poll

Texas edged Oklahoma as the favorite to win the league title with 77 points, including six first-place votes. The Sooners came in second with 75 total points and four first-place selections.
Texas A&M (61), Baylor (58), Nebraska (48) and Missouri (48) round out the top six. Oklahoma State was picked seventh with 32 points followed by Kansas, Texas Tech and Iowa State to finish out the poll.
The Cowgirls return seven starters and 12 letterwinners from a squad that finished 27-28 one year ago.
Oklahoma State opens the season with a scrimmage on Tues., Feb. 1, hosting Northeastern Oklahoma at 3 p.m. The Cowgirls kick off the regular season at the Pepsi Arizona Tournament in Tucson, Ariz., on Friday, Feb. 4.
