Young Cowboy Squad Faces First Test at Wildcat Invitational
January 13, 2005 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
Of the 14 runners attending the meet for the Cowboys, only three are upper class men. Senior J.R. Lake, junior Sean McCabe and redshirt junior Luke Sigle will lead the young Oklahoma State squad. Cowboy head coach Dick Weis recognizes the youth of his team and looks forward to seeing how they handle this much pressure early in the season.
“It's the first meet of the year,” Weis said.” It is the first test for the guys. They have been away awhile and will have to just go out there and see what they can do.”
Joining the veterans will be sophomores Brian Ehlis, David Foster, Joseph Gray, David Jankowski and David Pomies, and freshmen Brian Gosnell, Chris Lewis, Alejandro Ruiz, Ryan Vail and Brian Wall. Weis said he will decide on Friday who will be competing for the Pokes.
The meet, a two-day event, will take place in Kansas State's Ahearn Field House. The men's events begin at 10 a.m. Friday.
