Oklahoma State's women's tennis team advanced six out of seven individuals to the second round of the Lady Razorback Invitational on Friday afternoon.
"We are simply amazed at the performance of our team so far this year," Head Coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. "Whenever you can perform as well as our team did today, it makes a coach very happy. Our team performed well from top to bottom."
Newcomers Iryna Tkachenko, Jana Kubickova and Sandra Blajer defeated their opponents in straight sets. Tkachenko dispatched Wichita State's Spink, 6-0, 6-0.
Freshman Lilian Bou Kheir was victorious in her first match for OSU, winning in the third set against Southwest Missouri State's Gakovic, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
"The new group of girls that have come in for us are simply amazing," Lubicz-Majewski said. "They work well together and with girls that were already here. They are playing hard and showing a real desire to win."
Junior Zana Masnic and sophomore Lauren Simmons tallied victories for the Cowgirls in straight sets against Sam Houston State's Assundani and Wichita State's M. Simmons, respectively.
Rounding out the evening, the Cowgirls were victorious in all three doubles matches.
"Our doubles teams look very good," Lubicz-Majewski said. "Overall, there are very few things for us to complain about today. It was just a very good performance for the entire team."
The Cowgirls will be looking to continue their success Saturday in the second round of the Lady Razorback Invitational at the University of Arkansas Tennis Complex.
