Cowgirl Netters Prepared for Fall Tournament Opener
September 16, 2004 | Cowgirl Tennis
“This is a very good tournament,” Head Coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. “It is very helpful as a building block into the rest of the fall season and is very convenient for our team.”
Also competing are Wichita State, Sam Houston State, Southwest Missouri State and host school No. 68 Arkansas.
The Cowgirls, led by junior Zana Masnic, will feature five newcomers including one transfer. Also returning for OSU are sophomores Lauren Simmons and Jennifer Poskitt.
“This tournament will be a good experience for us,” Lubicz-Majewski said. “This will give us a chance to try doubles pairs and see how we will perform before the Las Vegas Tournament.”
The Cowgirls lost three members from last year's 8-13 squad and will be trying out many new individuals.
“We are optimistic and think that we can do very well,” Lubicz-Majewski said. “Our players are excited about doing well and I am sure that we will have some surprise performers.”
The first round of singles begins Friday morning at the University of Arkansas Tennis Complex.
