Softball Downs Carl Albert In Fall Scrimmage

Carl Albert scored its only run of the day on a two-out rally in the first inning. Three back-to-back hits were capped by a single from Tabitha Heavener. The Vikings connected for six hits in the game but managed just one in the final six innings.
OSU got on the board in the second inning, plating two runs on RBI singles from Rikki Walker and Shanel Scott.
The Cowgirls scored three more in the fifth thanks to three hits and a pair of Viking errors.
Megan Carey and Stephanie Nicholson both singled and scored on a throwing error by Carl Albert's catcher. Lacy Darity scored the final run of the inning on a double steal. Darity reached on a base hit, stole second and teamed with Ashleigh Tweed for the double steal.
OSU finished off the game by scoring three more in the ninth inning. Courtney Totte led off the frame with a base hit and came home on a double by Ashlyn Watson. Two more runs crossed home plate after a groundout by Marge Johnson and a RBI single from Shianne Cruce.
All four of OSU's pitchers saw time in the circle on Tuesday. Jessica Hoppock, OSU's ace in 2004, struck out seven and allowed one run in the first three innings. Randi Cook allowed two hits and fanned three Vikings. Marge Johnson tossed a perfect three innings, striking out five and Kristen Neil closed out the day by allowing one hit, walking one and striking out one batter.
