Softball Eliminated From Big 12 Tournament

Oklahoma State's softball team was eliminated from the Big 12 Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Kansas on Friday morning at Don E. Porter Hall of Fame Stadium.

The Cowgirls offense was absent for much of the contest, touching Kansas' Kara Pierce for just three hits in the contest, all singles by freshman Shanel Scott.

The Cowgirls had a prime scoring opportunity in the fifth but they were unable to capitalize. Shianne Cruce got OSU started with a walk, Scott followed with her third hit of the game and Courtney Totte earned a free pass to first but Kansas' Kara Pierce came through with the strikeout against Megan Carey to work out of the jam.

Jessica Hoppock gave up the game-winning hit in the third, a home run from Sandy Smith on a 2-0 pitch. Hoppock tossed her 30^th complete game of the year against KU and finished the season with a 22-21 record. The freshman scattered five hits and struck out eight.

Kansas scored in the fifth when a runner advanced home on an attempt at a double play at second. The Jayhawks plated their final run of the game in the sixth without a hit thanks to two walks, a double steal and sacrifice fly.

Oklahoma State finishes the season at 27-28 overall. The Cowgirls lose four seniors; Alliya Anderson, Calli Behmer, Crystal Lee and Jade Lindly.
