Softball Falls To Baylor, 3-2
May 01, 2004 | Cowgirl Softball
Baylor improves to 43-12 overall and 10-5 in conference play while the Cowgirls fall to 26-26 overall and 6-10 in league action.
The game was scoreless until the sixth when Baylor's Melissa Maler rocked Jessica Hoppock for a three-run home run. The long ball has plagued the Cowgirls all year and Maler's shot was the 37th allowed by OSU's pitching staff this year.
The Cowgirls made a valiant comeback in the bottom of the seventh. Jade Lindly led off the frame with a double, moved to third on an infield single from Lacy Darity and scored on a sacrifice fly from Shianne Cruce.
Darity then brought the Cowgirls within one after displaying her speed on the bases. Darity stole second, moved to third on a throwing error by Danelle Arnold and reached home safely on a groundout.
Saturday's 3-2 loss was the Cowgirls 12th one-run setback of the season. The Cowgirls are now 10-12 in one-run contests.
