Cowgirl Netters Prepare for Bedlam
April 20, 2004 | Cowgirl Tennis
“This is going to be a tough match for us because Oklahoma is so talented,” said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. “They are very tough and we are going to a very dangerous place to play. We will do the best we can against them and hopefully steal a victory.”
The last time the two schools met, the Cowgirls (6-12, 1-7) over the Sooners (17-3, 6-2) in the Big 12 Tournament semifinal round. OSU won both of last year's meetings.
Senior Katya Kolodynska will face one of the nation's elite players when she squares off against No. 5 Anda Perianu at the top singles position.
“Perianu is a very tough competitor,” Lubicz-Majewski said. “Katya is talented enough to win this type of match. Hopefully she will view the ranking as a sort of motivation and play even tougher.”
After the Bedlam match, the Cowgirls return home to face their final two opponents of the 2004 regular season. OSU will face Nebraska and Iowa State over the weekend at the DeBois Tennis Center.
