Academic Services For Student-Athletes To Hold Annual Banquet
April 16, 2004 | General
The student-athlete academic awards banquet was developed to recognize the outstanding academic achievements of Oklahoma State University (OSU) student-athletes. The criteria for being selected as an academic awards recipient was set by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Academic Services for Student-Athletes. In order to qualify for this year's banquet, a student-athlete must fall under one of these requirements: A student-athlete must have a grade point average (GPA) equal to or greater than 3.0 overall, acquire a 3.0 GPA during the 2003 Spring and Fall semesters combined, or obtain a 3.0 GPA for the 2003 Spring, Summer and Fall semesters combined. If the student-athlete is a first year freshman or transfer, they must earn a GPA equal to or greater than a 3.0 for the Fall Semester.
Student-athletes may also be nominated to attend the awards banquet based upon a recommendation of Academic Services for Student-Athletes. This year over 300 awards will be given to student-athletes, members of the spirit group, athletic trainers and managers.
One of the highlight awards of the evening will be given to the top 14 seniors. A senior from each of Oklahoma State University's 14 varsity sports with the highest GPA will be recognized. Academic awards will also be given to first, second, third, fourth and fifth year academic award recipients. All graduating seniors are invited to the banquet and will receive recognition for their academic achievements while at OSU.
Oklahoma State University President David Schmidly, OSU Vice President, Regents and State Regents are invited to attend this event. The student-athlete awards banquet is Monday, April 19th at 6:30 pm in the Wes Watkins Center.
