Oklahoma State's softball team opened play at the Cal State Fullerton Worth Invitational with a pair of losses, falling to No. 10 Stanford, 7-6, and Cal State Northridge, 5-0.
The Cowgirls jumped out to an early lead against Stanford, plating four runs in the top of the first.

The Cowgirls extended their lead to 6-1 in the fifth inning. Megan Carey led off the frame with a walk and stole second to get in scoring position. Crystal Lee reached on an error by Stanford's shortstop and Jade Lindly completed the set with a two-run single.
Stanford stayed in the game with a pair of home runs; Catalina Morris hit a solo dinger in the first and Leah Nelson pulled the Cardinal with three with a two-run long ball in the fifth.
Stanford made a rally in the sixth, scoring four runs to take a 7-6 lead into the final inning. The Cardinal touched Jessica Hoppock for four hits in the frame to complete the comeback.
Hoppock fell to 9-4 on the year with the loss, giving up seven runs on six hits.
Stanford used all three of its pitchers on staff in the contest. Laura Severson started the contest but was replaced by Danika Dukes before collecting an out. Severson reentered the contest in the second and earned the win. Dana Sorensen tossed the final frame to earn the save for the Cardinal.
Neil walked six batters, including one with the bases loaded to push one run home. OSU's defense wasn't much better as it made two crucial errors, allowing a runner to score on both plays.
Hoppock entered with two outs and sat down the last batter but Cal State Northridge had built a 3-0 lead that would last the entire contest.
The Matadors added more two runs in the fifth, scoring on a bases loaded walk and RBI single.
The Cowgirls made a late rally in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs, Shanel Scott and Courtney Totte connected for back-to-back two out singles and Stephanie Nicholson earned a free pass to second to load the bases but Megan Carey popped up to third base for the final out of the game.
