Cowgirls Drop Conference Opener

The No. 70 Cowgirls lone victory on the evening came at the No. 6 singles position where freshman Jennifer Poskitt downed Erika Josbena in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
The match started off with a Missouri sweep of the doubles contests. At the No. 1 position, the senior tandem of Katya Kolodynska and Jana Karaskova were defeated by MU's Urska Juric and Katka Sevcikova, 8-5.
Missouri claimed the doubles point when Yelena Olshanskaya and Josbena defeated junior Ines Furtmayr and sophomore Zana Masnic, 8-2. The Tigers finished the sweep by picking up the victory at the No. 3 position.
The Cowgirls luck would not change in singles competition. OSU lost the lead in four of their singles matches.
At the No. 1 position, Kolodynska jumped out to a fast start before falling to Juric, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. Sevcikova claimed the Tiger's third team point with a victory over Karaskova at the No. 2 position, 6-2, 6-4.
Furtmayr also held an early lead at the No. 3 position after claiming the first set, but was unable to hold of Missouri's Hana Kraftova, falling 6-7, 6-0, 6-0. Olshanskaya was able to hold of a late surge by Masnic at the No. 4 position, picking up the 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 victory.
The final Missouri point came when Mary Barry defeated freshman Lauren Simmons at the No. 5 position, 6-1, 5-7, 10-5.
Oklahoma State will look to rebound when they take on Brigham Young at the DuBois Tennis Center on Monday at 3 p.m.
