OSU Equestrian Set to Compete in Regional Championships

OSU's Western team is fresh off earning the automatic berth to the IHSA National Championships after completing the season with the overall lead. The team won the first five shows before hitting a dry spell for the remaining three shows. However, the Cowgirls had a commanding lead and remained in the lead at the end.
The Western team qualified 15 riders to the regional championships, with Kristin Dickerson leading the way in Reining and Open. The Las Cruces, N.M., native was the lone Cowgirl to qualify in multiple disciplines.
OSU finished the season with 215 points followed by A&M with 196 points. West Texas A&M chipped in 160 points to round out the top three.
The Hunter Seat team completed the regular season by sending 13 riders to the regional championships. Dickerson, who competed in her first year on the Hunter Seat team, qualified in Open Flat and Novice Fences, making her the only rider to qualify in two disciplines in both Western and Hunter Seat.
The Cowgirls finished the season in second place with 236 points, while TAMU finished the season with 260 points for first. West Texas A&M chipped in 125 points for third, while LSU and Texas Tech rounded out the top five with 122 points each.
