Oklahoma State's softball team fell to Tulsa, 3-2, Wednesday night at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex in front of 601 fans.
Tulsa connected for two hits and a walk in both the first and second innings but the Cowgirls came through with the defensive stops to force the Golden Hurricane to leave the bases loaded.
Oklahoma State left four on base through the first three innings but turned the tide in the fourth.
The bases were loaded after a walk and back-to-back hits when Lauren Kitchens stepped up to the plate with two outs. Kitchens singled to shortstop, earned the RBI and reached first safely after Tulsa's shortstop failed to make a throw on the play.
Oklahoma State upped its lead to 2-0 in the fifth. Crystal Lee did all the work, sending a triple to the right field and coming home on a passed ball.
Tulsa pulled within one in the bottom of the frame with a leadoff home run from Katie Torres and took the lead in the sixth.
The Golden Hurricane had runners on second and third when Heather Hiar came up with the two RBI single to give Tulsa its first lead of the game, 3-2.
Jessica Hoppock took the loss for the Cowgirls, giving up three runs on seven hits, four strikeouts and three walks.
Oklahoma State (19-15) opens conference play this weekend, hosting No. 22 Nebraska at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
