Softball Finishes Third At FAU Tournament

Freshmen Randi Cook and Jessica Hoppock teamed up to toss a one-hit shutout Sunday afternoon as Oklahoma State's softball team blanked Kent State, 5-0, in the third-place contest at the Florida Atlantic Tournament.
The Cowgirls jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, touching
The Cowgirls came up with clutch hits in the opening frame, knocking in all three runs with two outs in the books. The bases were loaded when Stephanie Nicholson sent Shanel Scott and Megan Carey home with a single. Jennie Killman followed with a RBI double to score Alliya Anderson.
Scott added the final two runs, earning two RBI with a single in the sixth inning.
Randi Cook picked up her first win of the season against
Jessica Hoppock relieved Cook in the fifth, preserving the shutout for the Cowgirls while allowing just one hit and fanning three KSU batters.
