Softball Earns No. 3 Seed

The Cowgirls lost to Florida International after a see-saw battle for much of the game. OSU took a 4-3 lead into the bottom half of the sixth inning, scoring the go-ahead run off a base hit from Megan Carey.
Errors were the downfall of the Cowgirls in the bottom of the frame. Powell led off the inning with a base hit, moved to second on a fielder's choice and scored on a throwing error. The winning run scored on the following play, a single to right center.
Jessica Hoppock took the loss for the Cowgirls without giving up an earned run against the Golden Panthers. Hoppock scattered seven hits, struck out three and walked two.
The Cowgirls jumped out to a 4-0 lead against
OSU then evened the score in the fifth with a RBI double from Stephanie Nicholson. Neither team was able to score in the final two innings but the Cowgirls scored one in the bottom of the eighth to earn their third extra-inning win of the season.
Lacy Darity scored the winning run on a throwing error by
Jessica Hoppock picked up the win for the Cowgirls, striking out 12 and improving to 13-9 on the season. Kristen Neil faced three batters in the third inning after Hoppock gave up a three-run home run. Neil walked the next three batters and Hoppock returned.
