Cowgirls Defeat Mean Green, 5-2

Oklahoma State's women's tennis team evened their season record with a 5-2 victory over North Texas at the Goldfield Tennis Center in Denton, Texas on Saturday.
The No. 69 Cowgirls (5-5, 1-2) started the match off on the right foot, winning two of the three doubles bouts over the Mean Green (11-8, 2-4).
At the No. 2 doubles position, junior Ines Furtmayr and sophomore Zana Masnic defeated Kelli Royer and Ashley Sammis, 8-4.
UNT would even up the doubles point with a victory at the No. 1 position over the senior tandem of Katya Kolodynska and Jana Karaskova, 9-7.
The Cowgirls claimed the team point when the freshmen duo of Lauren Simmons and Jennifer Poskitt picked up the 9-8 decision over Holly Lee and Megan Schmulbach.
In singles competition, OSU picked up straight set victories in four of the six total matches.
At the No. 1 slot, Kolodynska defeated Krysta Lee in a tough 7-5, 6-2 decision. Furtmayr extended the Cowgirls' lead with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Sammis at the No. 3 position.
Oklahoma State clinched the match when Simmons picked up the victory over Harris at the No. 5 position, 6-2, 6-2. Poskitt added the fifth team point with a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the last singles slot.
UNT picked up their only team points at the No. 2 and No. 4 singles positions.
The Cowgirls will attempt to extend their win streak to three when they face No. 40 TCU at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas tomorrow at noon.
Oklahoma State holds a 7-5 all-time series record against the Lady Horned Frogs.
