Oklahoma State's softball team was blanked by Wichita State, 1-0, Thursday evening at Cowgirl Stadium. Ashley Lynn hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh to give the Shockers all the offense they needed.
Jessica Hoppock tossed a perfect game until the Shockers connected for a single in the fourth inning. The freshman shut WSU down for the remainder of the contest until giving up the home run and a double in the seventh.
Oklahoma State's offense got off to a good start with a pair of base hits in the first frame but left both runners stranded. After a quiet couple of innings, the Cowgirls loaded the bases in the fourth but the Shockers came through with the final out to hold OSU scoreless.
After forcing a groundout to start the fifth, Wichita State's pitchers walked three Cowgirls to load the bases but reliever Margo Pruis retired the next two batters to end the threat.
Lynn hit the game-winner in the final frame to give Wichita State their first win against Oklahoma State in Stillwater and just the third in series history.
Hoppock takes the loss for the Cowgirls, falling to 10-7 on the year. The freshman scattered three hits, struck out four and walked one.
Oklahoma State returns to action next Tuesday, traveling to Wichita, Kan., to close out the series with the Shockers at 5 p.m.
