Equestrian Places Second at Both Shows
February 09, 2004 | Cowgirl Equestrian
OSU earned 31 team points on Saturday but it wasn't enough as regional leader Texas A&M extended its overall lead with its 38 point day. The Aggies built on that lead after Sunday's show after earning 43 points to OSU's 33.
The Cowgirls finished Saturday's show with seven riders taking home first-place finishes. Taylor Pickrell notched the team's first win with her top finish in Intermediate Fences. Caitlyn Roberts quickly followed Pickrell's win with one of her own in Novice Fences.
Lindsay Parker was the lone Cowgirl to take home a pair of first-place finishes over the weekend. Parker rode her way to the top spot in Open Flat each day.
Laura Brawdy recorded her first win of the year in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter, while Ashley Holland and April Peck notched first-place finishes in Open Flat and Beginner Walk-Trot-Canter, respectively. Mand McNally was the last OSU rider to record a victory on Saturday with her top finish in Intermediate Flat.
Sunday's show OSU had the same number of riders take home victories as Saturday, but six of the seven were different riders. Kristin Dickerson continued where she left off at the end of last semester with a top finish in Novice Fences, while Emily Harison took home first in Open Fences.
Hannah Thompson and Luann Ulrich each recorded wins in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter, while Michelle Ammann and Cory Johnson won the Walk-Trot and Novice Flat, respectively.
The Cowgirls return to action Feb. 14-15 when they travel to Canyon, Texas, for a trio of Hunter Seat shows.
