Softball Defeats Boston, Falls To No. 2 Arizona

Oklahoma State used a 10-hit attack and some strong relief pitching from Jessica Hoppock to beat Boston University, 8-3.
A single by Courtney Totte and an RBI double by Stephanie Nicholson in the top of the first led OSU to a 1-0 lead.
The Terriers answered with a run in the bottom half when Abbey Pauley singled and OSU pitcher Kristen Neil walked the next three batters, before being replaced by Jessica Hoppock.
The Cowgirls broke the tie, scoring three runs in the fourth with a hit batter and four singles including a two-run hit by Jennie Killman.
In the sixth inning, Shianne Cruce doubled in a run and Totte earned an RBI on an infield grounder to up Oklahoma State's lead to 6-1.
Boston's Chiya Louie and Liz Alley hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead in half. The comeback was stopped after Lacy Darity connected for a two-run home run to left to make it 8-3.
Hoppock (8-2) struck out 12 batters and gave up three hits en route to the victory.
The Cowgirls dropped the second contest of the day, 4-0, to No. 2 Arizona.
Arizona's Jackie Coburn hit a two-run home run in the first to give Arizona all the runs it needed in a 4-0 victory.
UA's Alicia Hollowell struck out 17 Cowgirls and held Oklahoma State to one hit, a single to left field by Lacy Darity in the third inning.
Hoppock (8-3) took the loss for Oklahoma State, giving up four runs, two earned, on eight hits.
Oklahoma State (11-6) faces Boston at 11 a.m. (CST) in the third-place game of the Wildcat Worth Invitational.
