Cowgirl Softball Takes Two in Texas

The Cowgirls posted their first shutout of the year in the opening contest against Texas Arlington. Jessica Hoppock tossed a complete game to lead the Cowgirls fro the circle. Hoppock retired 11 UTA batters, walked four and scattered seven hits.
Oklahoma State finally broke the standstill in the fourth inning. With two runners in scoring position, Calli Behmer singled to score Crystal Lee and Lauren Kitchens brought Alliya Anderson home with a sacrifice fly to left field.
Lee added OSU's final run of the game in the top of the sixth, a solo long ball to right center.
Oklahoma State started quick in the contest with host school North Texas and never looked back.
Leadoff batter, Shanel Scott scored in her first three at-bats against the Mean Green. Jennie Killman earned the RBI in the first and Stephanie Nicholson knocked a single to left field for the RBI in the third.
OSU's biggest offensive showing came in the fifth. The Cowgirls scored three runs off two hits and two North Texas errors. Nicholson closed out the inning with a two-run triple down the right field line.
The Cowgirls scored two more in the sixth when Shianne Cruce connected for her first home fun of the year, a two-run shot to left field.
Oklahoma State scored one final run in the seventh inning off UNT's fourth error of the contest.
The Mean Green plated one run in the fourth and one in the seventh but could not overcome the offensive firepower the Cowgirls brought to the contest.
Kristen Neil (2-1) picked up her second straight win. Neil struck out eight batters, walked three and allowed six hits.
Oklahoma State (8-3) concludes play at the Betlin Round-up on Sunday, facing Southwest Missouri State at 10 a.m. and New Mexico at 3 p.m.
