Cowgirl Softball Picks Up Pair Of Wins

In the first game, the Cowgirls scored one run in the top of the first, but let Wichita State tie the game in the bottom of the second. The Shockers took a 2-1 lead in the fifth, but OSU rallied, scoring in the top of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.
Oklahoma State scored three runs in the top of the ninth, then finished off WSU by allowing just one run in the bottom frame.
Cowgirl hurler Kristen Neil started for OSU, but went just two innings, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks. Freshman Jessica Hoppock came to the mound in the third, and threw the remaining seven innings, scattering six hits while striking out 13 Shockers.
The Cowgirls scored all five runs using the small ball. Despite nine base hits, OSU had no extra base hits, and had eight stolen bases.
In game two, Neil gave up five runs in six innings, but the Cowgirl offense overcame the scoring frenzy by Creighton with seven runs of their own. OSU trailed, 5-4, entering the bottom of the fourth, but scored three unanswered runs for the victory. Neil picked up the win, while Hoppock garnered a save in the outing, striking out two of the three batters she faced.
Oklahoma State will play Texas-Arlington at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and host school North Texas at 12:30 p.m. The tournament will conclude with a pair of games on Sunday.
