Cowgirls Turn Away North Carolina 4-3

Jessica Hoppock went the distance for the Cowgirls and improved her record to. OSU is now 4-3 on the season. Crystal Cox fell to 2-2 on the season. UNC is now 3-3.
Scott and Courtney Totte provided all the offense for the Cowgirls banging all six hits. Scott went 3-for-4 with a triple and scored three times, while Totte went 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBIs and a run scored.
Dionne Street went 3-for-4 with a homerun and a double to provide the offense for the Tarheels.
The Cowgirls took advantage of their first opportunity at the plate connecting on consecutive extra base hits. Scott led off the game with a triple to left and Totte followed her with an RBI double. OSU then executed a double steal with Stephanie Nicholson swiping second and Totte advanced to the plate to make it 2-0.
UNC cut the score in half in the top of the second on an RBI single by Anna Evans that scored Emily Price.
Totte added another RBI double in the second inning that scored Scott to give the Cowgirls a two-run advantage.
Street led off the third inning with a solo homerun to left center for the Tarheels to make it a 3-2 game.
UNC tied the game in the sixth after Price led off the frame with a single. Jessica Young was able to drive her home with a double center to even the score at three a piece.
That set the stage for the drama in the bottom of the seventh. Scott led off the inning with her third hit of the game. Totte executed a perfect sacrifice bunt to move her into scoring position. After a pitch got in the dirt, Scott was heads up and moved towards third base. Hoffman threw the ball into the leftfield allowing Scott to score the winning run.
The Cowgirls are headed to Denton, Texas for the North Texas Betlin Round-Up. They will play six games over three days beginning tomorrow with Wichita State at 3 p.m. and Creighton will follow the game with Wichita State.
