Hunter Seat Team Finishes Regular Season in Second Place

The Cowgirls completed the regular season by sending 13 riders to the regional championships. Kristin Dickerson, who competed in her first year on the Hunter Seat team, was the only rider to qualify in multiple disciplines. The
OSU completed the first show on Saturday with 27 points, two behind West Texas A&M. Texas A&M finished third with 24 points, while LSU and SMU rounded out the top five with 19 and 16 points, respectively.
During the first show the Cowgirls only had three girls take home top finishes, including Dickerson's first-place showing in Open Flat. Jennifer Stearns notched a first-place finish in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter, to qualify for regionals, while Kerrie Kehr notched a top finish in Walk Trot.
The Cowgirls completed the second show on Saturday with 40 points, but Texas A&M built on its regional lead with its 43-point day. LSU and WTAMU tied for third with 19 points each, while SMU chipped in 11 points for fifth.

Sarah Wilkinson placed first in Intermediate Fences to qualify for regionals, while (Kerrie) Kehr recorded her second top finish of the day in Walk Trot.
In the third and final show of the weekend, the Cowgirls finished in third with 19 points. Texas A&M captured its second top finish of the weekend with 29 points, and ended the season as regional champions. SMU captured a second-place finish with 24 points, while WTAMU, Texas Tech and LSU all tied for fifth with 17 points each.
Five Cowgirls recorded victories, including Kehr's third first-place finish of the weekend in Walk Trot. Amber Blythe and Jen Russell each recorded top finishes in Novice Flat and Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter, respectively, while Lindsay Parker and Cory Johnson finished first in Open Flat and Novice Fences, respectively. Parker also qualified for regionals in Open Flat.
The Hunter Seat team finished the season in second place with 236 points, while TAMU finished the season with 260 points for first. West Texas A&M chipped in 125 points for third, while LSU and Texas Tech rounded out the top five with 122 points each.
The Western team will be back in action March 6-7 with a pair of shows at Texas A&M. The Cowgirls will look to build on their 30-point regional lead over the Aggies, and earn the automatic berth to the IHSA National Championships.
