Cowgirl Soccer Earns NSCAA Awards

Nationwide 291 women's programs earned the accolade by achieving a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2003-04 academic year.
The Cowgirls posted a 3.16 team GPA and were one of seven Big 12 schools to receive the distinction. Other conference teams earning the honor were Kansas, Iowa State, Missouri, Texas, Texas Tech and Texas A&M.
In addition, two Cowgirls were recognized individually for their dedication in the classroom. Juniors Lauren Colwell and Cassie Lewis were named to the South Region Scholar Athlete All-America second-team.
Colwell, an international business major has a 3.812 GPA. The Tulsa, Okla., native started 19 games for the Cowgirls at defender, dishing out two assists.
A product of Houston, Texas, Lewis maintains a 3.317 GPA while studying broadcast journalism. The midfielder scored three goals for the Cowgirls in 2004.
