Oklahoma State wins Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

Cowgirl junior Karin Sjödin won the individual title by nine strokes over teammate Annie Thurman. Sjödin shot three-under-par for the tournament with a 213. Thurman shot a 222 and held off a pair of west coast golfers by one stroke.
Sjödin had 12 birdies during the three-round tournament, and was never above par for the entire 36 holes. She now has two individual titles and a runnerup finish in three tournaments this season, and has a 70.22 strokes-per-round average.
Thurman, a senior from Highland Park, Utah, was even after two rounds, but struggled throughout most of Wednesday's round. She counterbalanced four double bogeys with four birdies during her rollercoaster round. The runnerup finished marked her seventh-career top-five placing.
Junior transfer Kyla Welsh finished in the top-20 individually, carding a three-round total of 231 and finishing 19th. Sophomore Mallorie Underwood carded a 75 during the final round and moved up 14 spots from 36th to 22nd place.
Washington, the second-ranked team in the country entering the tournament, shot the best round of the day Wednesday and moved up into second place, 19 strokes behind the Cowgirls. Oregon tied the Huskies for second place, while USC (926) and Pepperdine (930) rounded out the top five.
Oklahoma State will return to action later on this month when the Cowgirls compete in the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C., Oct. 29-31.
