Cowgirls Advance to Tournament's Third Day

Oklahoma State's women's tennis team rebounded from a difficult first day by advancing one individual and two doubles teams at the Wilson/ITA Region V Championships on Thursday.
Freshman Iryna Tkachenko, the lone Cowgirl remaining in the singles bracket, downed
“Iryna started out fairly slow today,” head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. “She is a tough competitor and was able to perform well. She has such a strong will to win every time she goes out there.”

The newcomer tandem of Sandra Blajer and Jana Kubicikova also advanced through the doubles Round of 64, defeating Jill Benniou and Carolyn Stephens of
“We have received outstanding doubles play all through the fall season this year,” Lubicz-Majewski said. “Both of our teams competing this weekend faced difficult first round opponents and were able to respond well.”
Tkachenko will continue competition in the Main Draw Round of 32 on Friday at
