Soccer Prepares For Final Home Games

OSU's senior class of Jeré Boykin, Leah Carr, Carla Dolomont, Lisa Fulton, Jolene Schweitzer and Nikki Wojtowicz will take the field at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex for the last time on Sunday. The class has posted a 47-25-6 record in their four years at OSU and led the program to new heights. The season before they arrived, OSU finished 4-14-1 overall and 1-8-1 in the Big 12. Last year they set a school record for program wins (15), won the Big 12 Tournament and earned a first-ever berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Scouting Nebraska
Nebraska is 11-5-0 overall and 5-2-0 in league play. The Huskers earned a split last weekend, defeating Texas Tech and falling to Baylor. Two Huskers, Brittany Timko and Nikki Baker, have provided the bulk of the offense this season. Timko leads the Big 12 in points (43), goals (15) and shares top spot for assists (13) with OSU's Nikki Wojtowicz. Baker chips in with 10 goals and two assists. Kaite Wright has played every minute in goal for the Huskers, posting a 1.30 goals-against average and five shutouts.
Scouting Colorado
Colorado enters the weekend at 10-4-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the Big 12. The Buffs are riding a two-game winning streak after picking up a pair of wins against Baylor and Texas Tech last weekend. Four players, Fran Munnelly, Ashlie Mihalcin, Katie Griffin and Jen Thais, have scored 78 percent of CU's goals. Munnelly and Mihalcin pace the team with seven each, followed by Thais (6) Griffin (5). Jessica Keller anchors the Buffs in goal with a 0.67 goals-against average, second in the league. Keller also ranks second in the conference with eight shutouts.
Head Coach Karen Hancock
Karen Hancock is in her ninth season at Oklahoma State and 11th season overall. Hancock built OSU's program from scratch in 1996 and the hard work paid off when the 2003 Cowgirls won the Big 12 Tournament and earned a first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. Hancock reached a coaching milestone earlier this year against Louisiana-Lafayette, picking up her 100th career win.
Home Sweet Home
Oklahoma State has recent history on its side when its takes the field at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex. The Cowgirls have only lost once in their last 16 games at home starting with a 3-2 win against Oklahoma on November 1, 2002. Overall, OSU is 27-5-3 in Stillwater dating back to the 2001 season, an 85 percent winning percentage.
Fresh Faces
Oklahoma State's roster sports 12 new faces this year. Eight freshmen, three sophomores and one junior comprise the incoming class. Five of those, Jeanne Rankin, Sasa Jackson, Kalyn Brady, Breanna Truelove and Candice Byler, have made at least one start in 2004.
Looking Ahead
Oklahoma State closes out the regular season with a trip to Norman to face Oklahoma on Friday. It will be the Cowgirls first game at OU since 2001 when the Sooners picked up their only win in the series.

Cowgirls On The Radio
Oklahoma State will have five home games plus the OU game at Norman and all postseason contests broadcast live on Stillwater Radio. All games, with the exception of the OU game, will air on KGFY 105.5 FM with pregame beginning 15 minutes prior to game time. The game at Oklahoma will be broadcast on KSPI 93.7 FM. Bill VanNess will handle play-by-play duties and Amy Weeks will provide color analysis. A complete broadcast schedule is below.
