Campbell Leads Cowboys at Chile Pepper

Sophomore Tyler Campbell finished 29th in the eight-kilometer race to lead the young Cowboys squad. The Auburn, Wash., native finished with a time of 30:58.1. Chris Stoves and John Dixon were the other top finishers for the Cowboys. Stoves placed 42nd while Dixon finished 55th. David Pomies and Brian Gosnell finished fourth and fifth, respectively, for the Cowboys.
“I think the guys ran really well,” said Cowboys head coach Dick Weis,”They are young, but they are so tough. I am always telling them that they are the future of this program.”
“We are ranked 20th in the nation, and honestly, I think we are a whole lot better than that,” said Weis.
Josphat Boit of Arkansas led the overall leaders with a time of 29:22.7. The third-ranked Razorbacks finished first and were followed in the top three by the Arkansas Alumni, and Rice.
Next up, the Cowboys travel to Topeka, Kan., for the Big 12 Championships on Saturday, Oct 3.
